Carl Peter Holbøll

Carl Peter Holböll (* 1795, † 1856; Holbøll also wrote ) was an officer in the Danish navy and ornithologist, botanist and entomologist.

Carl Peter Holböll served from 1825 to 1828 as a royal inspector in North Greenland as well as in themselves function in southern Greenland from 1828 to 1856 at this time., He began to be interested in science. He described including the Polar Redpoll (Carduelis hornemanni ), whose epithet he named after Jens Wilken Hornemann. For a time, the gyrfalcon was his name. A subspecies of the Rothalstauchers is named after Carl Peter Holböll.
