Carl Werner

Carl Friedrich Heinrich Werner ( born October 4, 1808 in Weimar, † January 10, 1894 in Leipzig ) was a German watercolor and architectural painter.

Life

Werner first began studying painting at Veit Schnorr von Hanns Carol Field in Leipzig, he studied architecture from 1829 in Munich under Friedrich von Gärtner. In 1831 he turned to painting and finally got a big travel scholarship to Italy. 1832-1855 as a painter in Italy and joined in 1835 to the Catholic faith. He founded a master studio for watercolor painting in Venice, where Ludwig Passini was one of his students. After working in Leipzig, but he took down large traveling abroad to England, Spain, the Holy Land, Greece and Italy. In 1882 Werner was a teacher at the academy in Leipzig for watercolor painting.

He is the father of the painter Rinaldo Werner ( 1842-1922 ).
