Carlo Tessarini

Carlo Tessarini (* 1690 in Rimini, † after December 15, 1766 Amsterdam ) was an Italian violinist and composer of the late Baroque.

Life

Carlo Tessarini came from a family of sailors. Little of his childhood and his studies known to some sources suggest that he, possibly as a pupil of Antonio Vivaldi, received his musical training in the Venetian setting. First mention was Carlo Tessarini as violinist at St. Mark's Basilica. Until 1731, he was music director ( " maestro dei concerti ") of the " Ospedale del Derelitti ", one of the four orphanages in Venice; Here he composed his Concerto à cinque op.1. 1731, he got a job in the " cappella musicale " of the Cathedral of Urbino, which he held until 1743, although he was temporarily 1730-1737 Kapellmeister of Cardinal Schrattenbach in Brno. 1740 took over the management of a Tessarini theater orchestra in Rome, which he did., After the death of Pope Clement XII had to give up.

After 1747 Tessarini was in Rome and Naples, and later in countries north of the Alps. His concert tours took him to Paris, Brussels, Nijmegen, Groningen and Frankfurt am Main. Work

Tessarini started relatively late with the publication of his compositions, so some it is not definitively be attributed. His later works clearly show a devotion to the galant style. As a music theorist, he published important instructions to rhythms, to the teaching of ornaments, for execution of cadences and to learn the violin playing.
