Carlos Alberto Parreira

Carlos Alberto Gomes Parreira ( born February 27, 1943 in Rio de Janeiro) is a Brazilian football coach. He's since November 2012 Technical Director of the Seleção.

Carlos Parreira took six times as coach at football World Cups: 1982 with Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates in 1990, Brazil in 1994 and 2006 as well as with Saudi Arabia in 1998 and South Africa 2010 In 1970, he was already working as a fitness trainer of the Brazilians..

In 1997, Parreira coached the MetroStars in Major League Soccer. In his career, he coached two well-known Brazilian clubs: Fluminense FC and Corinthians, and he was awarded with the Brazilian Cup and the Paulista Championship in 2003 two awards with his teams. In 1991 he was also with the provincial team CA Bragantino surprising runner-up. He also coached the 1994/95 FC Valencia and 1995/96 Fenerbahce, where he won the Turkish Cup straight away.

From the 8th January 2003, he was the second time national coach of the Brazilian national team, with which he wins the World Cup in 1994. In 2005 he won with Brazil the Confederations Cup in Germany. In the Football World Cup 2006, he resigned, however, Brazil in the quarter- finals. The early failure of the defending champion was considered the biggest surprise of the tournament. July 19, 2006 Parreira resigned from his post as coach, and was succeeded by Carlos Dunga.

Parreira was 2007 coach of the South African national team. After he had explained his early resignation on 21 April 2008 also, he returned in October 2009, again back to the post which he held until the end of the 2010 World Cup as coach of the host country.

Beginning of 2009, Parreira again training at Fluminense FC in Rio de Janeiro - now his fourth coach contract with the club. After a series of defeats he was made redundant a few months later.

Parreira supervised six different teams during his career. Unusual is also that he repeatedly stood in the same five different employers under contract. He was twice coach of South Africa, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, three Brazilian coach and even employs four times at Fluminense. However, included 19 of his total of 25 terms up to about a year - so he took it alone between 1994 and 2003 at nine different stations.

On November 29, 2012 Parreira was appointed technical director of the national team. This it is to lead, together with the old and new coach Luis Felipe Scolari to the home World Cup in 2014.
