Revolution

The Revolution brought a new political climate, a certain openness allowed the political organization of social sectors, which political participation was denied before. The Partido Paulista Union was founded on 25 December 1919. Carlos Herrera y Luna was a member of the Partido Liberal. Herrera was the presidential candidate of a coalition of liberal dissidents and the Partido Union Ista.

In April 1920, the " Union Club Paulista ", " Libertad del Indio " was founded in Alta Vera Paz. This turned to Parliament for the abuse, which was driven by Governor Jorge Ubico Castañeda against the indigenous population to indict. Besides other things, they demanded the deputies a free labor regime, as the indigenous people were suppressed by labor contracts according to law 243 of 27 March 1894.

In September 1920, turned the German -born Latifundist Erwin Paul Diesel village to the government minister, Adalberto Saravia, and alleged that the Chairman of the Club Union Ista of the indigenous people of Carcha, José Ángel JCO, had at this club the majority of indigenous people with the Bolshevik demands, such as, the to distribute land to the indigenous people of villas and to increase wages, united and therefore were the servants in Senahú now on strike. The only way the situation can be improved, is that José Ángel JCO leaves the department forever, Diesel village wrote in his letter, adding that in many areas the indigenous people possess their own land and have decided for themselves to withdraw it and to live as a slacker, so it is necessary but make for these Indians, which only produced what they needed to live not enhance the economic balance of the country to have an impact. In my judgment, Diesel village goes on to say it is a mistake an Indian so much power against, as given Jco.

In October 1920, is that José Ángel JCO turned to Herrera, to communicate that he was beaten up by some light-skinned and taken to jail from Coban. All this from envy, because our club was pretty strong.

In World War goods had been confiscated from German descent. The Empresa Eléctrica de Guatemala ( EEG) completed the power monopoly of the Electric Bond & Share. Under Herrera many goods were returned.

For the hundredth anniversary of the independence of a Palacio del Centenario was built from cardboard of burnt.
