Carlos Pellegrini

Carlos Enrique José Pellegrini Bevans ( born October 11, 1846 in Buenos Aires, Argentina; † July 17, 1906 in Buenos Aires ) was dated August 6, 1890 and the October 12, 1892 President of Argentina.

Pellegrini was born in Buenos Aires, the son of Charles Henri ( or Carlos Enrique ) Pellegrini and his wife María Bevans Bright. His father was an immigrant from Chambéry in Savoy engineer, his mother came from England. 1863 Carlos Pellegrini began studying law at the University of Buenos Aires, which he interrupted to participate as a soldier in the Triple Alliance War against Paraguay. After graduating in 1869 with the doctoral dissertation (El Derecho Electoral - " The right to vote " ), he worked in the Ministry of Finance of Argentina. In 1873 he was elected deputy for the province of Buenos Aires from Parliament.

He cultivated a friendship with the industrialist and founder of Banco Tornquist Ernesto Tornquist. Under his presidency, the most important state-owned bank, the Banco de la Nación Argentina, was created.

In 1871 he married Carolina García Lagos. The marriage remained childless. Pellegrini is buried in the Recoleta Cemetery in Buenos Aires.
