Carlos Roberto Reina

Carlos Roberto Reina (* March 13, 1926, † 19 August 2003) was 1994-1998 President of Honduras.

Reina belonged to the left wing of the Liberal party to and had a long career as a diplomat and human rights behind them, among other things, he was from 1960 to 1963 Ambassador to France. On January 27, 1994, he became the new heads of state and head of government of Honduras. He already promised in advance to fight poverty, corruption and human rights violations, as well as to reduce the influence of the military and to create social institutions. In his tenure as president, he then tried successfully in the propagated by him renovación moral, moral renewal to the fight against corruption and abolished conscription. In 2003 Reina committed suicide with a gun, he was gravely ill with cancer.

Reinas was succeeded by Carlos Roberto Flores Facussé, who had fizzled the renewal program Reinas.
