Carlos Vela

Carlos Alberto Vela Garrido ( born March 1, 1989 in Cancún, Quintana Roo) is a Mexican football player. His older brother Alejandro Vela is also professional football players.

Association

The end of 2005 he moved from Chivas Guadalajara for Arsenal, but was borrowed already in February 2006 for half a year at Celta Vigo. The reason was that Arsenal did not get the absolutely necessary work permit for Vela. Since Celta Vigo had but committed too many foreigners, he did not come there as well for use. For the 2006/07 season he was loaned to second division side UD Salamanca, where he scored 8 goals in 31 games. Since after this season still present a work permit for the English professional football, he was awarded again, this time to the División CA Osasuna in the Spanish Primera. For Osasuna, he played in the 2007/ 08 season, 33 games and marked three goals. On 22 May 2008 Vela got the required work permit to play for Arsenal. He has been part of the 2008/ 09 season for the first team of FC Arsenal and got the jersey number 12

Because of the injury to Robin van Persie Vela came into the season with some inserts in the league and in the Champions League, in which he could recommend for the starting lineup. After the departure of Adebayor to Manchester City striker Vela is fifth in the Arsenal squad. On 11 September 2010 he scored with his new shirt number 11, which he had received prior to the season, his third Premier League goal in the match against Bolton Wanderers.

For the second half of the season 2010/11 Vela was loaned to West Bromwich Albion, for the 2011/12 season at Real Sociedad. After an impressive season in Spain he was firmly committed to the 2012/13 season.

On March 30, 2014 Carlos Vela completed his 100th La Liga game for Real Sociedad.

National

The striker was 2005 winner of the " golden shoe " (5 goals) at the U -17 World Cup in Peru and had so large share of the profits of the title for Mexico. In the U -20 World Cup 2007 in Canada, he came up with Mexico to the quarter- finals. He is next to Giovanni dos Santos from Tottenham Hotspur and Javier Hernandez, as the greatest hope for future success of the Mexican national team.
