Carlson Wagonlit Travel ( CWT) is an international company in business travel management. The core business is the business travel management. CWT designs and implements superior travel management programs. The company is represented in roughly 150 countries and employs approximately 20,000 people. In 2011, Carlson Wagonlit Travel generated for wholly owned operations and joint ventures totaled U.S. $ 28 billion. Global Headquarters in Paris ( France) and Minneapolis (USA), the headquarters for Central & Eastern Europe is located in Eschborn near Frankfurt / Main.

History

Wagonlit Travel

1872 builds the Belgian entrepreneur Georges Nagelmackers Europe's first sleeping car and dining car and founded the Compagnie Internationale des Wagons- Lits (short: CIWL ). 1883 sent Wagons-Lits the Orient Express on the journey from Paris to Constantinople Opel. First Nagelmackers sold tickets and hotel accommodation at the stations along train tracks. In 1897 he opened the first branch of Wagons-Lits in Berlin. Carlson Wagonlit Travel

1994 laid Carlson Companies, Inc. and the Accor Group, the companies Carlson Travel Network and Wagonlit Travel together and form under the name of Carlson Wagonlit Travel, one of the largest organizations for business travel management. The ownership structure changed in 2006. Carlson Companies, Inc. and One Equity Partners ( OEP) acquired the 50 percent stake of Accor in CWT. Carlson becomes majority shareholder and now holds a 55 percent stake, while OEP owns the remaining 45 percent. One Equity Partners ( OEP) transfers in 2010 its shares internally to another subsidiary of JPMorgan Chase & Co., Chase Travel Investment. Due to acquisition of several travel agencies Carlson Wagonlit Travel was the largest travel management company in Europe, Asia and Latin America Pazific and the number 2 in North America in 2009.

  • Peter Ashworth, born 1967, has since the end of October 2013 Senior Vice President Central and Eastern Europe and forwards in this position CWT in Central Europe ( Germany, Austria and Switzerland ) as well as in Eastern Europe. He began his professional career in 1990 at Wagonlit Travel, the precursor of CWT. This was followed by senior positions within the operations area. His responsibilities extended first to the Netherlands, followed by the Benelux countries and northern Europe. Since 2010, he served as vice president Traveler Services EMEA for the entire operational area in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
