Carlyle Blackwell

Carlyle Blackwell ( born January 20, 1884 in Syracuse, New York and Troy, New York and Troy, Pennsylvania, USA, † June 17, 1955 in Miami, Florida, United States) was an American silent film actor and director and producer.

Life

His film debut Blackwell in 1910 in the movie Uncle Tom 's Cabin, directed by J. Stuart Blackton. Between 1910 and 1930 he appeared in over 180 films. Introduced him in Germany, especially the role of Sherlock Holmes in Richard Oswald's German film adaptation of the popular detective substance The Hound of the Baskervilles from the year 1929. Immediately before, he had already played the male lead in Geza von Bolvarys German - British co-production The Strangler, a crime story from a story by Edgar Wallace. With the advent of the talkies ended his career as an actor. Blackwell died at the age of 71 years.
