Carolin Babcock

Carolin Babcock Stark ( * May 26, 1912, † March 25, 1987 in Southampton, New York) was an American tennis player.

Life and career

Babcock reached 1932, the singles final of the U.S. Tennis Championships (now the U.S. Open ), but lost to Helen Jacobs in straight sets 2:6, 2:6. In 1936 she won with her ​​compatriot Marjorie Van Ryn the women's doubles in the same major tournament. They defeated Helen Jacobs in the final and Sarah Palfrey Fabyan in three sets 9:7, 2:6, 6:4. In addition, it was in the years 1934, 1935 and 1937 in the doubles final of New York, but lost all three finals.

In the years 1932 and 1934, Babcock was number three in the U.S. and in the meantime among the top 10 in the world ( 1934 and 1936 ).

Carolin Babcock was married to Richard Salisbury Stark. The American died in 1987 at the age of 74 years in New York at the effects of a stroke.
