Cartan (crater)

Cartan is a small impact crater near the eastern edge of the moon. It lies just west of the larger crater Apollonius. The rim is circular with a small impact on the east side. The inner surface occupies almost half of the diameter of the crater. A small crater connects the southern border to the northern edge of the crater Apollonius H, forming a short chain of craters.

Cartan was before being renamed by the International Astronomical Union ( IAU) in 1976 called Apollonius D.
