Cascade B

Ξb0 - baryon

Ξb - Baryon

The Ξb - baryon (English and Cascade b or Xi sub b ) is an elementary particle that is one of the baryons. It consists of a strange quark, a bottom quark and an up or down quark.

Discovery

The extremely short-lived Ξb particles with about six times the proton mass was discovered at Fermilab in 2007. It is thus the first recorded elementary, consisting of the quarks of all three generations, namely a down quark, a strange quark and a bottom quark.

The neutral Ξb0 particles was first observed in July 2011, also at Fermilab.
