Cascadia (independence movement)

Cascadia (English and Spanish: Cascadia ) is a region in the Pacific Northwest of America, which is bounded by the Cascade Range from the surrounding drier climates. It includes areas of Canadian British Columbia and the U.S. states of Washington and Oregon, with the urban area around Vancouver and Seattle and along the Interstate 5

There have been repeated efforts to establish an independent state in the Cascade region. Even U.S. President Thomas Jefferson, the Lewis and Clark expedition to explore the area sent there in 1803, pursued this idea that finds expression in various secessionist movements and initiatives for extensive collaboration and participation processes to date, and also in the Ökotopia novels of Ernest Callbach reflects.
