Casimir Dudevant

François Casimir Dudevant ( born July 6, 17951871) was a French aristocrat and Lieutenant of the Grande Armée.

Life

Dudevant was the illegitimate son of Baron Jean -François and his mistress Augustine Soulé Dudevant. In 1813 he attended the military academy at Saint- Cyr- l'École. Subsequently, he served in the Army until he left in 1822 with the rank of lieutenant.

On December 10, 1822 Dudevant married Aurore Dupin de Francueil in Paris, which became famous under her pseudonym George Sand. With her ​​Dudevant had two children: Maurice Sand (1823-1899) and Solange ( 1828-1899 ). He lived with his family on their estate (now Maison de George Sand ) at Nohant -Vic ( Indre ).

His wife separated after violent clashes in 1831 by him. She had found his will and thus learn what he thought of women in general and her in particular. In 1836 she got a divorce from him.
