Cassandane

Cassandane ( * before 567 BC; † March 537 BC) was the wife of the Persian king Cyrus II

Life

Cassandane was the daughter of the Achaemenid Pharnaspes and sister of Otanes. She married Cyrus II with whom she had two sons and three daughters believed: Cambyses II, Bardiya and Atossa, a non- designated names daughter and probably Artystone. Cyrus II felt such a deep love for his wife that he admonished after her death all subjects for the holding of mourning ceremonies. After Nabonaid Chronicle was in Babylon because of the " death of the wife of the king " (Probably Cassandane ) BC enacted a national mourning from 29 March to 4 April 537.
