Castanopsis hystrix

Castanopsis hystrix is occurring in Southeast Asia tree species from the beech family ( Fagaceae ).

Features

Castanopsis hystrix is a tree.

The fruit cup ( cupulae ) are occupied with branched and simple spines. The spines are tight and stiff, straight and hairy. Each fruit cup contains two to four nuts, and is closed in the dry state.

Dissemination and locations

The species is found in Thailand, India, Myanmar, Laos, Vietnam, China and Taiwan. It grows in deeper evergreen mountain forests.
