Castro Valley is a city in Alameda County in the U.S. state of California, United States, with 61 388 inhabitants ( 2010). The city has an area of 38.2 km ².
The city was named after the Spanish landowner and sheep farmers " Don Castro ," the former owners of the area. He lost all his land in a card game. In the 1940s and 1950s, the city was known by many poultry farms. Later it became a dormitory town, where the people lived and lived to work but went to outside.
The Metallica bassist Cliff Burton was born here.
