Caterina Davinio

Caterina Davinio ( * 1957 in Foggia) is an Italian poet, writer and artist. She is the author of the digital poetry and digital art.

Life

Davinio lived from 1962 to 1997 in Rome and studied Italian literature and art history at the University of La Sapienza. Since 1997 she lives in Lombardy, at Monza and Lecco and is regarded as an artist of international level.

The artist began in the early 1990s as a pioneer of the Italian electronic poetry in the experimental field of writing, visual arts and new media, working with computers, video, digital photography and Internet. Furthermore, it is the author of novels, essays, and visual and concrete poetry. They also created works using traditional techniques such as painting. Multiple their art projects have been shown at the Venice Biennale, where she first animated digital poetry exhibited ( VeneziaPoesia, 1997).

With their website " Karenina.it " it is considered the founder of the Italian Net- poetry. There they picked up boundaries between poetry, art, criticism and information and created a poetry performance, which is the movement of data and information on the Internet in this case. Other participants include Julien Blaine, Clemente Padin, Philadepho Menezes and Mirella Bentivoglio.

With a series of artistic initiatives since 1992 Caterina Davinio hit in Italy a bridge between experimental poetry and electronic and video art.
