Cathedral of Funchal

Sé is the common name of the Cathedral in Funchal on the island of Madeira, the full name is Sé Catedral de Nossa Senhora da Assunção.

The construction of the late Gothic church was designed in 1488 and begun in 1500. The construction management had the Steinmetz Gil Enes and the carpenter Péro Annes. 1508 the church was consecrated by Bishop Lobo. On 12 June 1514 the church was raised to cathedral, as in Funchal, the third bishop seat for Portugal was formed. On October 18, 1517 present high altar and the choir were ordained.
