Cathedral of The Isles
The Cathedral of The Isles is an Episcopal cathedral in the Scottish town of Millport on the island of Great Cumbrae. It belongs to the Scottish Episcopal Church. In 1971 the building was added to the Scottish lists of monuments in the highest category A monument. The complex structure with attached seminary located on the northern outskirts of Millport off College Street. In addition to the St John's Cathedral is one of two cathedrals in the diocese.
History
The construction of the church building, designed by the architect William Butterfield was begun in 1849 and completed two years later and provisional. To date, the construction is unfinished. 1876 the building was consecrated.
