Catherine Crook de Camp

Catherine Crook de Camp ( born November 6, 1907 in New York City; † April 9, 2000 in Plano, Texas, native Catherine Crook Adelaide ) was an American writer.

Life

Catherine Crook de Camp grew up in New York and attended the Lennox School. She graduated from Barnard College magna cum laude. At Columbia University she taught English and economics.

On August 12, 1939, she married the writer Lyon Sprague de Camp. From this marriage two sons, Lyman Sprague de Camp and Gerard Beekman de Camp emerged. In the following years she became the manager and her husband's bookkeeper. From the mid- 1960s, she was co-author on numerous publications of her husband. The de Camps were friends with many science fiction authors, including John Brunner, John W. Campbell Jr., Isaac Asimov, Arthur C. Clarke, Fletcher Pratt, Robert A. Heinlein, Poul Anderson and Jack Williamson.

From 1972 they also released their own works and compilations. Catherine Crook de Camp, who with her husband traveled the world for many years, received numerous awards for her work in the genre of science fiction and fantasy.

Catherine Crook de Camp died at the age of 92 years in Plano, Texas. Her ashes were interred with her ​​husband at Arlington National Cemetery.
