Catherine Scorsese
Catherine Cappa Scorsese, born Catherine Cappa, ( born April 16, 1912 in New York City; † January 6, 1997, ibid ) was an American actress and mother of director Martin Scorsese.
Life
Catherine Scorsese Martin Cappa father worked in the theater and her mother Domenica operating a business. She was Italo -American and got her first role when her son the film It's Not Just You, Murray! turned. They often played the role of the Italian or Italian-American mom.
Their most well-known performances they had in the successful gangster films Goodfellas - Three decades in the Mafia, from the year 1990, as a mother of Tommy (played by Joe Pesci ) and Casino ( 1995) as Mother of the shop owner Artie Piscano ( Vinny Vella ).
Catherine Scorsese played with in films in which her son was not directed. She was married to Charles Scorsese (1913-1993), who also played minor roles in Scorsese films. She was also editor of the cookbook Italia American: The Scorsese Family Cookbook.
Catherine Scorsese died on 6 January 1997 at the age of 84 years from the consequences of their Alzheimer 's disease. She was buried in the Moravian Cemetery in New Dorp, Richmond County.
