Catholic University of Leuven

Catholic University of Leuven is the German translation of the name of two Belgian universities,

  • The Dutch-speaking Katholieke Universiteit Leuven in Leuven ( Leuven larger needles, French Louvain ), short- KU Leuven,
  • The French-speaking Université catholique de Louvain in Louvain- la -Neuve (German Neu- lion ), short UCL.

Both universities created in 1968 as part of the Belgian linguistic dispute from the division of the Catholic University of Leuven. For the common history up to 1968, see History of the University of Leuven.
