Catrin G Grosse

Catrin Large, often listed as C. G. Big (* 1964 in Finsterwalde ), is a German painter, graphic artist and sculptor.

Career

Catrin Large studied 1984-1989 Painting / Graphics at the Academy of Fine Arts in Dresden and in 1991 received the diploma. She belonged in their very young age to the alternative art scene in the GDR. In 1986 it found in the " underground" Living Gallery by Joerg Deloch the second floor of the rear building of the beautiful Allee 50 in Berlin.

1991-1993 she was a master student of Günter Horlbeck. Through the Philip Morris Art Promotion 1993-1994 she got a residency at the Museum Schloss Moritzburg. This was followed by 1994-1995 a DAAD scholarship for postgraduate studies at the Royal College of Art in London with Tim Mara at the Department printmaking.

London she developed a relief printing method, which combines different printing techniques in a single printing operation by rolling or cutting operations of the printing block. Printing is done with oil paint on very heavy cotton handmade paper on a low -pressure roll press with very soft felt or foam rubber. She describes this process as an anvil pressure.

Since 1995 Catrin Large working as a freelance painter, graphic artist and sculptor. She held since numerous lectures and workshops (eg at the University of Art & Design in Coventry, Yale College, Wrexham and the University of Wales). Since 2002 she has taught creative techniques, developed tender for the expansion of art education and the integration of artistic and aesthetic processes in the learning process (since 2005 in Arthur! Project). It employed between 1997 and 2006 ceramics in collaboration with the ceramist Ilona Möbert from Cottbus and the company Saxony porcelain ( Freital ) and Arita ( Meissen ) and with the jewelery designer Brit Kolleß from Dresden. Since 2004 cinematic projects were developed ( film " election advertising " in 2004, " perspective " 2004-2005 " interplay " In 2006, "National Anthem " 2007).

Catrin Great is the mother of two children. Since 1998, she works primarily in the areas of printmaking, sculpture and installation. Since 2007 she has also taught in professional painting and graphics at the Music School " brothers Graun " in Herzberg. She is a member of GEDOK.

Her great-grandfather was the painter Adolf Werner ( 1827-1904 ).
