Catumbela

Province

Catumbela is a town on the Atlantic Ocean in the Angolan province of Benguela and since 6 December 2011, a separate Munizip. It is situated between the port city of Lobito and the provincial capital of Benguela on the Rio Catumbela, whose name it bears. The city is located about 10 km from Lobito and 20 km from Benguela.

Traffic

Catumbela is located on the railway line from the historic Benguela railway.

Since August 27, 2012, the city has an international airport, offering an alternative to the city airport and the Luanda by the Empresa Nacional de Portos e Aero Navegação Aérea ( Enana ) is operated. The airstrip is 3,500 meters long. It was built by the Brazilian Odebrecht for U.S. $ 250 million. Are expected annually 2.2 million passengers. Are planned flights to Namibia and Portugal.
