Cavalcade Painter

The cavalcade was a painter designated with a Notnamen ancient Greek vase painter who decorated his works in the Corinthian black-figure - style. He worked during the Mittelkorinthischen phase of the style ( approximately 600-575 BC), his works have been about 580 BC.

The Cavalcade Painter is considered one of the most important and best Corinthian vase painters of his time. He was the chief master of Gorgoneion group. He decorated mainly shells and craters. His favorite topics were found on almost all sides of the shells, were the eponymous tab Friese, next fight scenes and animal friezes. As usual with the group the inside of the shells was usually painted with a Gorgon. Once he shows the suicide of Ajax on a vase with rich Namensbeischriften. Also on the craters shows the Cavalcade Painter tab Friese, fights, car trains and animal friezes. Here is his most important work a traveling in a car wedding couple. This work belongs already in the period of transition to Spätkorinthischen vase painting. Nine works by the artist are known, secured sites is Aegina and Kameiros.
