Cavaletti

Cavaletti is the colloquially usual, but not quite correct term for a Cavaletto (Italian cavalletto for buck, rack, stand, plural cavalletti ). It is a product used in equestrian small obstacle from a 8 cm thick and 3 m long rod of wood or plastic attached to the ends of holders. Due to the design of the holder ( often crosses or plastic blocks ) it is possible to adjust by simply turning the Cavaletti different heights between 15 and 50 cm.

Ground Ricks were introduced by the Italian Captain Federico Caprilli in the Spring Training, the Italian term for ground Ricks has since also - used in the German Equestrian sport - in a slightly different notation.

Objective

With the Cavaletti work a " muscle training " in the sense of strengthening one hand, and the relaxation takes place on the other. The cardiovascular system is strengthened and thus is a " fitness training " hand in hand. In addition, this rod work increases the " sure-footed ", the horse learns " to shift focus quickly and safely " and its practices through increased lift-off its " balancing ". In this case, an increased request is made to the attention of horse and rider and the horse trained the " estimate ", ie the visual measuring of distances. Even from "Intelligence Training " is spoken. In dressage training, the work promotes gaits walk and trot, improve the constant intervals the clock, the higher lift-off trains the momentum and the sublime expression of the cadence.

Not to be underestimated is also the factor of ' variety ' for horse and rider, the work is interesting and consequently increases the motivation.

Implementation

The Cavaletti is placed on the floor and rode on horseback. The rider relieves the horse's back by the light seat, but may also occasionally sit out when it comes to the increased assembly of the horse to him. Even when lunging Cavalettis can be used. After the horse has adapted to the task by single rod, usually several Cavalettis are successively placed ( row). Depending on the pace in which the Cavalettis to be overridden, the distances between the Cavaletti are different: In the Great Horse in step 80 cm, trotting about 110 cm to 130 cm, gallop about 280 cm to 400 cm. The Cavalettiarbeit provides an accompanying gymnastics for dressage in all three gaits as well as a preparation for the Spring Training dar. At a gallop the horse already performs small jumps that Cavalettiarbeit can go at this point in the Spring gymnastics. It depends on the purpose for each riding lesson, whether the Cavaletti work at a gallop is rather serve the later jumping or rather gathered dressage lessons; then the distances of the obstacles and the seat of the rider set. In the Spring hour Cavalettis are often placed at the beginning of gymnastics ranks.
