Cavez belongs to the district Cabeceiras de Basto Braga in the district, having an area of 26.8 km ² and has 1268 inhabitants (as at 30 June 2011). The place was on 12 July 2001 Vila ( dt: Small Town ) is given, and renamed by the previous name Caves.
