CD Atlético Baleares

The Club Deportivo Atlético Baleares (Eng. " Sports Club Athletics Balearic Islands " ) is a Spanish football club from the city of Palma de Mallorca. The team played in the 2012/13 season in the third Spanish top flight, the Segunda División B.

History

The CD Atlético Baleares was founded in 1942. In his nearly 70-year history of the club Mallorcan played mostly in the Tercera División, which was initially the third-highest, fourth-highest then Spanish league. The greatest success in the club's history was the two-time promotion to the second highest division, the Segunda División, in which they played a total of four years. For the first time the promotion to the second division in season 1950 /51. In the years 1951-1953, the team was able to keep it there. The return to professional football succeeded after eight years of absence, but again kept the club for two seasons in the Segunda División. After that, the club played only the third and viertklassig. 2005 Atlético Baleares was even thrown back in the fifth league, but increased again in the following year. In the 2007 /08 season was the team champion of the Tercera Division, Group 11 and rose to the Segunda Division B. There she could keep only one year initially, but succeeded in 2010 the direct re- ascent.

Stadium

Atlético Baleares plays its home games at Balear stadium in Palma de Mallorca, which has a capacity of 18,000 spectators. The stadium was inaugurated in 1960.
