CD Castellón

Club Deportivo Castellón is a Spanish football club Segunda División B from Castellón de la Plana, Valencia. The club was founded in 1922 and currently plays in the Segunda División. The home games at the stadium Nou Castalia, which offers 16,000 spectators place instead.

History

The idea to form a club came in Castellón in 1911 on. Different names can be mentioned back then, and in the following years: " Deportivo ", " Castalia ", " gimnástico ", " Cultural" and " Cervantes ". On July 22, 1922 was finally founded the " Club Deportivo Castellón ," as a merger of the two clubs ' CD Castellón Castalia "and" Cervantes CD Castellón de la Plana. " In 1923, the team wore against " Cervantes " in the opening game of the Estadio El Madrigal in Villarreal.

1941 Castellón rose the first time in the Primera División. The greatest successes of the association are a fourth place (1943) and two fifth places (1944, 1973) in the Primera División. In 1972 the club reached the Cup final, but they lost against Athletic Bilbao. At that time played Vicente del Bosque, who later became famous at Real Madrid, in Castellón.
