ÄŒD Class 471

The vehicles of the ČD - 471 series are electric double -decker trains of the Czech railway company České Railways ( ČD ) for regional services. Be procured vehicles especially as a replacement for the obsolete series 451/452. Of the ČD they are marketed as City elephant.

History

The two prototype units of class were built in 1999 by a consortium of the Czech rail vehicle manufacturers Moravskoslezská Vagonka, CKD Vagonka and Škoda Transportation. Since 2001 the series vehicles are put into service. Due to financial problems of the ČD since only about six trainsets are taken annually. So far, a total of 77 trainsets were delivered to the ČD ( 07/ 2012). From the ČD these trainsets are used under the name City elephant.

In a derailment on 28 June 2010 in Ústí nad Labem, the unit 471.005/071.005/971.005 was heavily damaged. In particular, the forward -running control car was thereby irreparably destroyed.

Meanwhile, plans obsolete before saw, use a five -piece version of the Series 471 as "IC Regio" in the fast regional traffic between the metropolitan centers in the Czech Republic. These guidelines should be used as the class 675.

Use

The new vehicles are used mainly in Prague -speed railway traffic on the routes from Prague to Kolin, Ústí nad Labem, Benešov near Prague and Beroun used. More recently, six vehicles were located in Ostrava. There you will preferably used in the Esko v Moravskoslezském kraji on the heavily used lines R1 and S1 of Český Těšín to Opava.

Same type vehicles

In the years 2008 and 2010, the Lithuanian Railways Lietuvos Geležinkeliai (LG) of Škoda received a total of four drive trains of the same concept, which were filed in the LG as the class 575. They are used for traffic between the two largest Lithuanian cities Vilnius and Kaunas. By 2014, the supply of five other trains is planned. In contrast to the 471 series, the Lithuanian trains are designed for the 25-kV-/50-Hz-Wechselstrom-System used there and executed in broad gauge (1520 mm).

The Slovak railway companies Železničná spoločnosť Slovensko ( ZSSK ) acquired in 2010 a three-piece train in two-system model for the catenary voltage 3 kV DC and 25 kV 50 Hz AC. Another nine trains have been ordered and should be delivered by 2014. Their use is particularly provided in regional traffic on the intra Slovak highway between Nové Mesto nad Váhom and Čierna Tisou.

The Ukrainian State Railways Ukrsalisnyzja acquired 2012, two six -car trains for the suburban services in the Greater Kyiv. The built for broad gauge 1520 mm gauge vehicles received a two-system equipment for the catenary voltage 3 kV DC and 25 kV 50 Hz AC.
