Celastrus paniculatus

Celastrus paniculatus is a flowering plant in the family spindle tree family ( Celastraceae ). It is widespread in Australasia. The oil from the seeds is traditionally used in Indian Unani and Ayurvedic medicine.

Description

Celastrus paniculatus grows as a deciduous, shrub loop ( Liane ). The stem axis has a diameter of up to 23 cm.

Celastrus paniculatus originates from the Indian subcontinent, but also grows wild in Australia, China, Taiwan, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Vietnam, and on Pacific islands (New Caledonia). It grows at altitudes between 200 and 2000 meters.
