Centrifugal switch

A centrifugal switch is an electro-mechanical equipment, the contact switch upon reaching a certain speed. The speed is measured by the movement of co-rotating masses whose centrifugal forces working against the restoring force of a spring.

Centrifugal switches have been used to speed-dependent triggering switching operations, such as Disabling start capacitors to motors, induction motors, speed control on the motor Telegraph or speed limitation on gasoline engines. Since mechanical centrifugal switch are subject to wear, they are now replaced by initiators that can recognize with evaluation marks on the rotating shaft.
