Japanese Kopfeibe ( Cephalotaxus harringtonia )

The Japanese Kopfeibe or Japanese Pflaumeneibe ( Cephalotaxus harringtonia ) is one of eleven species of the genus head yew ( Cephalotaxus ), the only genus of the family head Yews ( Cephalotaxaceae ). In Europe, this type is used as an ornamental plant in parks and gardens, there are also some forms of culture. The species is named after the Earl of Harrington, who they probably planted first in Europe in 1829.

Description

The Japanese Kopfeibe is reached a small evergreen tree or shrub, the plant height up to 10 meters. The gray bark peels off in thin stripes. The branches are green and only later reddish brown. The needles are about 3 cm long and 2-3 mm wide.
