Cerium ( III) chloride is a chemical compound of cerium, and chlorine.
Properties
It takes in moist air quickly absorb water and forms various hydrates such as cerium (III ) chloride heptahydrate ( CeCl3 · 7 H2O).
Use
Cerium ( III) chloride can be used as starting material for the synthesis of other cerium compounds. It may also serve as the Lewis acid, for example, as catalyst for Friedel-Crafts acylation and alkylation of ketones. Furthermore we offer the use in the Luche reduction and as a component of detector crystals.
