Cerro Largo FC

The Cerro Largo Fútbol Club, short Cerro Largo, is a football club from the north -east Uruguayan city of Melo in the department of Cerro Largo.

History

Cerro Lago is still a very young organization that was founded only on 19 November 2002. In the 2007 /08 season one rose for the first time in the highest Uruguayan League ( La Liga Profesional de Uruguay) after prevailed in a playoff against Club Sportivo Cerrito. This one was one of the few clubs represented there that do not originate from the capital Montevideo. However, at the end of the 2009/2010 season the club was relegated to the second Uruguayan league. The 2010/11 season they finished sixth. In the decisive play -off for third promotion place Cerro Largo sat then in the final against Boston by River and returned after only one year of abstinence back to the First League. In addition to the Copa Diego Rodríguez Cano for the third promotion place the club the Fair Play Award Premio José Marigliani received in the promotion season.

After a fourth place in the final table of the 2011/12 season, they finished in the season 2012/13 only 16 and thus last place. Since be used in Uruguayan football for the determination of the losers and the results of previous seasons, Cerro Largo avoided by the thus occupied 7th place of the descent rating table the aisle in the second division.
