Chadwell Heath

Chadwell Heath is a district of the London Borough of Redbridge, a borough of Greater London. However, parts of the district including the district London Borough of Barking and Dagenham.

History

The name Chadwell, who ultimately gave his name to the district, goes back to an official mention from 1254. Chadwell was a small insignificant settlement at that time. In the 17th century the village was given the name Chadwell Heath. Over the years, mainly due to the strong population growth of London, Chadwell Heath moved closer and closer to the city. In the reorganization of the British administrative districts of the city in 1965, a part of Greater London, after it administratively belonged to the county of Essex until then.
