Chaibasa is a town in the district of West Singhbhum in the Indian state of Jharkhand.

Population

At the time of the last census from 2001 Chaibasa had a population of 63 615 people. Men make it 53 % of the population, women 47%. The literacy rate was 74 %, higher than the national average of 59.5 %. The literacy rate of men were 79 %, that of women 68%. 12 % of the population were younger than 6 years.

Education

The best way is connected with Chaibasa Jamshedpur, which is approximately 60 km away. Two regular trains and Shatabdi Express ply the line. Shatabdi trains connect Chaibasa also with Kolkata. The condition of the road network in Jharkhand is generally of poor quality, even in the area around Chaibasa. The city does not have an airport, but there are some heliports.
