Chalone AVA

Chalone AVA ( recognized since June 14, 1982) is an American Viticultural Area in the U.S. state of California. The area is located in the administrative regions Monterey County and San Benito County. The Gabilan Mountains to the east of Soledad and located not far from the Pinnacles National Park area received its name from the Chalone Peaks. The soil consists of limestone and decomposed granite. The best known winery is certainly Chalone Vineyard, which took an excellent third place in 1976 as part of the wine jury of Paris, with its white wine made from Chardonnay left many top Burgundy behind. In addition, Brosseau Vineyards, Naylor Dry Hole Vineyard Blue Mountain Vineyard and Michaud Vineyard have made ​​a good name.
