Chamarajanagar (also: Chamarajanagara, Chamrajnagar; Kannada: ಚಾಮರಾಜನಗರ Cāmarājanagara [ tʃɑ ː ː mʌrɑ dʒʌnʌɡʌrʌ ] ) is a city in the southern Indian state of Karnataka. Chamarajanagar is located in southern Karnataka, near the border of the neighboring Federal State of Tamil Nadu to 662 meters. The nearest large city of Mysore is 61 km north, Bangalore, the capital city of Karnataka is located around 185 kilometers north-east. At the time of India's 2001 census, the population was 60 810 Chamarajanagars. Chamarajanagar is the administrative center of the district of the same name.

Chamarajanagar was originally known as Arakottara. Got its name the city after the former Raja of Mysore Chamaraja IX. Wodeyar, who was born in 1774 here. Chamanarajas son and successor Krishnaraja Wodeyar in 1818 prompted the renaming of the city and was built by the great Chamarajeshwara temple, which today is the main attraction Chamarajanagars.
