Chameleon Circuit (band)

Chameleon Circuit is a band from London whose music is thematically based on the television series Doctor Who. Its members were known to a wider audience through the video platform YouTube prior to the foundation in 2008.

History

Inspired by the popular especially in the United States Genre wizard rock, which deals with the plot of the Harry Potter novels, Alex Day published a style similar to the Doctor Who BBC series Song " An Awful Lot Of Running" on his YouTube channel nerimon. The video was successful with more than 100,000 accesses, so that Day, together with three friends in August 2008, the band Chameleon Circuit founded exclusively - as they call themselves - Time Lord rock ( short drying ) should play.

The group soon began recording their first album, each of the band members contributed their own songs. Was released Chameleon Circuit on June 1, 2009 to DFTBA Records, which specializes in publishing through YouTube become popular music. In the first two weeks after the publication of more than 1,000 units have been sold, interviewed the band by the official Doctor Who Magazine. In conjunction with the release of the second album was announced that the production of the self-titled debut had to be canceled due to disputes with the producers. The album was released, according to Charlie McDonnell thereby delayed and only in rough draft.

By late 2010, it was then quiet around the band, its members have been active as a solo musician or in other groupings. So Day released two albums and played some quality time together with McDonnell in the band Sons of Admirals. This also recorded his solo debut, which was released in December 2010. Then Chameleon Circuit announced a new album for 2011.

In April 2011, McDonnell announced the departure of Chris Beattie, he was replaced by Ed Blann, who was active in the Sons of Admirals as well as Day and McDonnell. Produced Still Got Legs by the American Michael Aranda, who moved to London for the recordings. After a holiday in France he refused the United Kingdom for two months re-entry, so that the work had to be interrupted on the album. With the help of an online petition signed by 50,000 fans, the band managed to achieve permission for a one-week stay Arandas in London. Thus he had the opportunity to prepare after the completion of production his return to the United States. The other recordings were previously continued with the support of the beverage manufacturer Red Bull in France.

Still Got Legs has already been presented in early June as part of two events interested fans before it was released on June 12 on DFTBA Records. On the run by Apple iTunes music platform publishing debuted at number 50 of the album charts in the category " rock album " ranked fourth
