Chamundeshwari Temple

The Chamundeshwari Temple is a Hindu temple in Mysore.

The temple is situated on the Chamundi hills three kilometers southeast of the city center. The temple is named after Chamunda. The building was built in the 12th century, probably by the rulers of the Hoysala Empire. The tower of the building was erected in the 17th century by the rulers of the Vijayanagar Empire. 1659 stairs to the top of the hill of Chamundi Hill was built. Several representations of Nandi are located at the temple. Not far from the temple is a large Nandi in granite.
