Chanchamayo District

The district Chanchamayo is one of six districts of the province Chanchamayo in the Junín region of Peru.

The district is named after one of the main rivers of the province, the Río Chanchamayo, whose headwaters are located in the Andes mountain range and the northward flowing towards the Amazon lowlands and there is the Río PERENE.

Population

The district has a population of 29,165 inhabitants ( January 2003) on an area of ​​919.72 km ², equivalent to a population density of 32 inhabitants / km ².

The age distribution of the population of the district is nearly identical to the age distribution of the province Chanchamayo where also 45 % of the population is younger than 20 years old.
