Changüí

Changüi is a musical genre that emerged in the 1860s in eastern Cuba. It was played at Cumbanchas ( Festivals of farmers ) in the mountains and has its origins in the music of the Bantus, Afro- French people of Haiti and Spanish influences of the Canary Islands. When instruments are used: Tresgitarre, Marimbula, maracas, Güiro (or Guayo ) and bongos. A singer is usually accompanied by a chorus of two or three others.
