Chaperon (headgear)

The Chaperone (from the French, [ ʃapʀɔ ] ) is a headgear that was worn in the middle ages for men and women and from a hood with long, droopy tip, the Cowl emerged.

Chaperon rouge is in French for Little Red Riding Hood.

Also it was called in the 19th century elderly chaperone, the young ladies were given as a protective companion.
