Charles-Alexandre Fessy

Charles -Alexandre Fessy ( born October 18, 1804 in Paris, † November 30, 1856 ibid, Alexandre -Charles Fessy ) was a French organist.

Life

Fessy studied from 1813 at the Conservatoire de Paris and won as an organ pupil of François Benoist in 1826 the first prize in organ. He then became the first organist at the Madeleine Church. In 1847 he broke Lefébure - Wely from the church St- Roch, who in turn took over the position at La Madelaine. Fessy until his death organist at Saint -Roch.

Between 1830 and 1840 Fessy also conducted the Concerts Valentino, Vivienne's the Concerts and other concert series. In addition Fessy conductor was at the Garde nationale in Paris. He had a profound knowledge of brass instruments and wrote a school for the saxhorn. As an organ composer he was in the post-classical French tradition. More recently, Nicolas Gorenstein took on a double CD of his organ works.
