Charles Darrow

Charles Brace Darrow ( August 10, 1889 *, † August 29, 1967 ) is the supposed inventor of the popular board game Monopoly.

Darrow produced the game in 1934 before Parker Brothers acquired the 1935 Darrow issued to U.S. Patent 2,026,082.

However, it could be demonstrated that Darrow is not the inventor and the invention of Monopoly was built artificially as effective marketing legend. 1973 invented the professor of economics at San Francisco State University, Ralph Anspach, the game Anti- Monopoly. For this he was sued by Parker Brothers. The trial went through all instances up to the Supreme Court, where it was found that Darrow had the game idea actually stolen. He had the rules of 1904 published by Elizabeth magic The Landlord 's Game ( for the landlord game in english ) copied directly, in which he even took over spelling errors.

Since he was already over 6 years was at this time, however, dead, this process had no effect on its popularity. Today, Charles Darrow is still in many different media - quoted as a named inventor of Monopoly - and Parker himself.
