Charles de la Bédoyère

Charles Angélique François Huchet de La Bédoyère (* April 17, 1786 in Paris, † August 19, 1815 ) was a French lieutenant general under Napoléon Bonaparte.

Biography

He joined the army in 1806, was first Lieutenant en second in the 11th chasseurs à cheval de régiment and participated in the campaigns of 1806 to 1812 as adjutant of Marshal Jean Lannes, then Joachim Murat's part. In 1813 he received from Napoleon the command of the " 112e régiment d ' infantry ', at whose head he fought at Bautzen and at Goldberg.

When Napoleon's return from Elba in 1815, he led his regiment this, which stood in Grenoble, after Vizille contrary, went with him in Grenoble and received the degree of Maréchal de camp. Soon after, he was raised to Lieutenent - général and peer of France. After the battle of Waterloo, he hastened to Paris and spoke at the stormy meeting of the Chamber of Peers on 22 June with special vehemence against the Bourbons. After the capitulation of Paris he followed the army behind the Loire.

La Bédoyère was just about to emigrate to America when he was arrested on July 3 in Paris, convicted by a court-martial on 19 August summarily executed.
