Charles de Mazade

Louis Charles Jean - Robert de Mazade Percin ( born March 19, 1820 Castelsarrasin, Tarn- et- Garonne, † April 19, 1893 in Paris) was a French poet, journalist and writer, who in 1882 was appointed a member of the Académie française.

Life

De Mazade published in 1841 his poetry collection Odes and later became a journalist in Revue de Paris, as well as political editor at the still existing Revue des Deux Mondes.

As a writer, he has authored numerous contemporary country sections on France, Italy, Poland and Spain, but also biographical presentation about figures such as Alphonse de Lamartine, Camillo Benso di Cavour, Klemens Wenzel Lothar Adolphe Thiers and of Metternich.

In December 1882, he was the successor of François- Joseph de Champagny member of the Académie française, and took there until his death the fourth arm chair ( fauteuil 4). After his death he was succeeded by the Spanish -born writer José -Maria de Heredia as a member of the Academy.
